Under Mayor Davlin’s leadership, the City has repaired and restored many downtown buildings. It has nearly completed the downtown streetscape program by installing decorative brickwork and installed ornamental period lighting.
Downtown businesses are flourishing thanks to the Lincoln Presidential Museum, which welcomed its one millionth visitor after being open less than two years. Internationally known scholars have made presentations and held educational forums at the new library, setting the stage for the coming bicentennial celebration of Abraham Lincoln’s birth.
Several new businesses have constructed new buildings. The Illinois Primary Health Care Association has invested several million dollars in a facility that will house their primary offices, and the Illinois Association of Realtors is moving into their new facility across from the Governor’s mansion. The city has assisted dozens of other organizations to expand their presence within Springfield.
Several new museums are being planned including the National Korean War Museum. It should be under construction soon, with an opening planned for this fall.
To secure our energy future for decades to come, Mayor Davlin obtained City Council approval for the construction of a $500 million power plant. It will utilize state of the art technology to become the cleanest coal burning power plant in Illinois. And, it will keep local coal miners working by relying upon Illinois coal produced right here in Central Illinois.
Truly Mayor Tim Davlin is moving our city forward creating incentives to get groups to locate in Springfield, moves that are creating jobs which are greatly improving the economy.
